Sloan Hohensee is in her first year as cheer coach at Howard College. She is a graduate of Texas Tech University and will be graduating in August, 2018 from the University of Texas at Tyler with her Master’s degree in English. As a cheer coach at Big Spring High School for the past three years, she has coached squads to NCA Nationals in 2015 and the UIL Spirit State Championship in 2016. Hohensee has been teaching cheer in some form since she was a high school cheerleader herself, and competed at NCA Nationals in 2009.
She is especially proud to be at Howard, where cheerleaders are actively involved in student life and exceedingly supportive of the Hawk athletic programs. As the new coach at HC, she expects her cheerleaders to be skilled in some of the most important aspects of cheerleading: physical fitness, leadership, and school and community involvement.
