Assistant Coach J-Bob Thomas
J-Bob Thomas is entering his second year as assistant coach at Howard College. Coach Thomas has returned to join Head Coach Britt Smith, for whom he played under while at Howard in 2002-2003.Coach Thomas finished up with an overall batting average of .320 while also throwing out 30% of base runners in his four year career. His prowess behind the plate was his strong suit, leading him to four consecutive All-Conference catching honors as well as being named to the All-Tournament team at the Lone Star Conference tournament in 2004. In his last season at Abilene Christian University the Wildcats finished 42-17, captured its second consecutive Lone Star Conference championship and garnered a top ten finish in the nation.
Thomas played for Duncanville High School under legendary coach Bob Rombach. Rombach who was inducted into the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000, led his team to three straight Texas High School State appearances from 1998-2000.
Thomas helped coach the Dallas Mustangs in the summer of 2004 under the direction of Sam Carpenter, one of the most prominent select baseball coaches in the nation. Following that summer, Thomas received the opportunity to coach under Jack Giesse with the Coppell Copperheads in the Texas Collegiate League. The team finished first in the Tris Speaker division with a record of 31-17 and came up just short of winning their second consecutive league championship.
Coach Thomas graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Bachelors Degree of Communications in 2005 and is currently working on his Masters Degree in Sports Administration.
