Prior to becoming the head coach, Lopez served as the assistant coach for the Hawks for two full seasons and the interim head coach for the spring of 2022. Ashley is no stranger to Howard College as she played centerfield two years under previous head coach Kelly Raines in 2015 and in 2016. She was then accepted into the 2 year Athletic Training program at Howard College in Big Springs TX. She worked very closely and learned all she could from her mentor, John Overton, aka Doc. John Ishee: Women’s Basketball – Head Coach

In his initial season (Covid Shortened) he led the Lady Hawks to a 5-12 season that was highlighted by an overtime win vs. #5 nationally ranked and Region 5 Champions South Plains College. The Lady Hawks also took #17 Midland To OT before dropping a 70-67 decision. The team advanced to the WAJCAC Tournament Semifinals before ending their season. Kyle Cooper: Men’s Basketball – Head Coach
Kyle Cooper enters his first season as Head Coach at Howard College. Cooper comes to Howard after one year as an assistant coach at Tarleton State University. During his time at Tarleton, Cooper helped the program to a school record in WAC conference wins and overall wins in the division 1 era. The team also boasted the school’s first win over a team ranked in the Top 100 of the NCAA Net Rankings all while maintaining a 3.19 GPA. Taylor Lavery: Men’s Basketball – Assistant Coach
Taylor Lavery enters his first year as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Howard College. Lavery is involved in all areas of the program, including recruiting, opponent scouting, player development, academic support, and day-to-day operations. Prior to Howard, Lavery served as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at North Central Missouri College in Trenton, MO. In his two seasons with the program, the Pirates compiled a record of 34-19 and earned back-to-back Region XVI championships (2021, 2022).
