Assistant Coach Cody Semler joins Howard College in his first year with the Hawks and will take over the recruiting duties while working with infielders, outfielders, catchers, and hitters.

Coach Semler comes to Howard College from Oklahoma State University. Semler was the graduate assistant coach at OSU from 2016-2019. During his time at OSU, Semler put together an extensive resume, which includes: 2 Big 12 Conference Championships, 3 NCAA Regionals, and 1 Super Regional. Semler helped develop a multitude of pitchers and infielders that were eventually drafted by Major League Baseball teams.

Over the last two summers Semler coached and recruited for the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Collegiate Baseball League. In Semler’s first year with Chatham, the Anglers went on to win the Eastern Division Championship. That 2018 team produced 29 MLB draft picks, with 3 of those players taken in the 1st round.

In his second year with Chatham, the Anglers finished with the best record in the Eastern Division. Almost the entire 2019 Anglers roster will go on to be drafted in the 2020 MLB draft.

In 2011 Semler was drafted by the San Diego Padres but chose to attend Weatherford College instead. Following junior college Semler played at West Virginia University and Angelo State University. Following his senior year at ASU, Semler played 1 season for the Tampa Bay Rays.
