Howard College Men and Women’s Basketball Both Ranked Top 25 in the Nation
Howard College Basketball is having another historic season with both our men and women’s programs earning a spot amongst the Top 25 in NJCAA Division l Basketball.
After a big win over New Mexico Junior College, the Lady Hawks have been ranked 23rd in the nation. This is the first time since 2010 that the ladies from Howard College have fought their way into the Top 25.
The ladies in red and black are 19-6 overall and 8-1 in conference play.
The Lady Hawks are on a four-game win streak after wins over NMJC, Frank Phillips, Midland College, and South Plains College.
The last time Howard College Women’s Basketball saw success of a similar caliber was a decade ago, when the Lady Hawks closed out the 2015-16 season 18-12. At 19-6 currently, the Lady Hawks have five regular season games remaining but have punched their ticket to the Regional Tournament.
The women’s wing of tournament play with take place in Lake Charles, LA, at the Legacy Center at McNeese State from March 24-31, 2026.
Howard College Men’s Basketball remains in the Top 25 for the 12th consecutive week. This week the Hawks are ranked 6th, the highest of all WJCAC opponents.
The Hawks are 22-3 overall with a 9-2 conference mark. In 2017-18, the Hawks hit an overall record of 22-9 and a 10-6 conference record.
At one point this season, the Howard College went on a 17-game win streak. The Hawks have five regular season matchups remaining.
The men’s side of the Regional Tournament will be held in Hutchinson, KS, at the Hutchinson Sports Arena from March 21-28, 2026.
Both Howard College Men’s and Women’s Basketball will be back at home Thursday, Feb. 19 at 5:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
