The Howard College Lady Hawks had a huge win Thursday evening after taking down No. 5 South Plains with a 63-60 final.

In the opening stanza, both teams put up 18 points. The second quarter followed with the Texans taking the lead heading into halftime with a 31-27 score. The visitors came back out swinging with another 20 points in the third frame but the Lady Hawks found their fight in the fourth quarter, totaling 20 points and holding South Plains to nine for a 63-60 final to wrap up the evening.

"They work so hard & all I want for them is to experience being winners! This is a fun group to coach, and we still have room for improvement'', mentioned Davis.

Makayla Ellison and Kailyn Berry were the leading scorers for the red and black, each totaling 15 points.

Ellison went 5-10 from the field and 5-9 from the line with eight rebounds, two assists, and one blocked shot.
