Howard College Hawks Soar Past Clarendon Bulldogs in Dominant 94–53 Victory

The Howard College Hawks earned a dominant conference victory Thursday night, defeating the Clarendon Bulldogs 94-53.

The Hawks improved their overall and conference standing with the decisive win, controlling the pace from tip-off and never looking back.

Howard College set the tone early, building a strong first-half lead behind aggressive defense and efficient offense. The Hawks carried that momentum into the break and continued to extend their advantage in the second half, outscoring Clarendon and sealing the 41-point victory.

The Hawks saw a balanced offensive performance, with multiple players contributing on both ends of the floor. Howard College consistently pushed the tempo, forced turnovers, and capitalized in transition to create separation throughout the game.

Kauai Deng led the offensive efforts for the Hawks, finishing with 15 while shooting 6-8 from the field. He added 4 rebounds in the win.

Terry Copeland was another key contributor, totaling 14 points and recording 6 rebounds.

Elijah Tshibangu also reached double figures, adding 14 total points and contributing with 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

"It was a fun game and a good one for us, especially as we're getting closer and closer to our main goal. Every win matters at this point in the season. This one puts us in a position to control our own destiny for what's coming next. We've reached one of our first objectives, hanging a banner for the conference which is great, but the two most important ones are still ahead of us. We stay focused, and we're hungry," commented Tshibangu.

Collectively, the Hawks shot 54% from the field, 36% from three, and 91% from the free-throw line while dominating the glass and creating extra opportunities throughout the game. Howard College also forced 19  turnovers and converted those into points on the offensive end.

"Very proud of our guys. Clarendon is a really hard place to win, and with this win we clinch at least a share of the conference title. I thought we were very focused and did a great job of playing for each other," stated Head Coach Kyle Cooper.

Next on the schedule for the Hawks is South Plains College on March 2 at 7:30 PM. The red and black will be taking them on in Texan Dome in Levelland, TX.
